Penguins Visit Norse in Pivotal Horizon League Contest Saturday

Opening Kick
• The Youngstown State women's soccer team (7-8-2, 5-1-2 Horizon League) plays its final regular-season road game of the year when it visits Northern Kentucky in a pivotal Horizon League matchup, Saturday,
Oct. 25.
• Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. at the NKU Soccer Stadium in Highland Heights, Ky.

The Matchup
• This is the 12th meeting between Youngstown State and Northern Kentucky in a series that dates back to 2012.
• The Norse own an 8-3-0 advantage in the all-time series and won the most recent game, 4-0 last season.
• Youngstown State won three straight games against the Norse from 2021-23, including a 1-0 victory in Highland Heights in 2022.

About Northern Kentucky
• Northern Kentucky enters the game with an overall record of 9-2-5 and a 6-1-1 mark in Horizon League play.
• The Norse, who are in second place in the league standings, are led by Megan Moiner with eight goals and Lilly Yordy with six goals and seven assists for 19 total points.
• Goalkeeper Megan Gessner owns a record of 9-2-5 with 56 saves, seven shutouts, and a save percentage of .862.

• The Penguins close out the regular season hosting Robert Morris, Wednesday, Oct. 29.
• Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Farmers National Bank Field.

Last Time Out
• Youngstown State won for the fourth straight time and extended its unbeaten streak to seven games, a school record, with a 3-0 shutout over South Carolina State on Oct. 19.
• Sara Felder scored for the sixth time this season while senior Sophia Blankenship recorded the first goal of her Penguins career, and freshman Baylee Williams posted her fourth goal of the year.
• Senior Chloe Weiland tallied two assists and senior Marissa Masano and sophomore Teagan Wahle each added another.
• Goalkeepers Aimee Benton and Nikki Whyte combined for the shutout.

The Oakland Win
• Youngstown State won its third straight Horizon League match with a 3-0 shutout over Oakland on Oct. 16.
• Sophomore goalkeeper Maya Naimoli posted her third straight shutout with two saves.
• Freshman Kamryn Rosa collected her sixth goal of the season and fifth in conference action, and junior Eva Sunjevaric and senior Chloe Weiland each scored their first goals of the year to lead the Penguins.
• Sophomore Sara Felder posted two assists on Rosa's and Weiland's goals.

Guins Scoring Numbers Up
• Youngstown State has scored at least 25 games in a season three times in program history – 1997 (40), 2003 (25), and 2025 (25).  
• With 21 assists this season, the Penguins have scored 71 total points, which ranks second all-time.
• The most points record is 105 set in 1997.

Guins Tie HL Win Mark
• With its 3-0 clean sheet against the Golden Grizzlies, Youngstown State tied the school record for most conference wins with five.
• The last time YSU won five Horizon League games was in 2022.

Penguins Love the Farm
• Youngstown State has loved playing at home in 2025.
• The Penguins own a 5-1 record at Farmers National Bank Field and are outscoring their opponents 16-6 in those games.
• Youngstown State is averaging 2.7 goals per game at home.

YSU Sets Conference Goals Scored Mark
• Youngstown State now has 15 goals scored in league action, which broke the old record of 14 set in 2022.
• The Penguins also have 41 total points in Horizon League play and need two more to set the total points record.

The IU Indy Win
• Youngstown State picked up a 2-0 victory over IU Indy on Oct. 12.
• Goalkeeper Maya Naimoli recorded her second straight shutout and third of the season and tallied nine saves.
• Sophomore Sara Felder scored her fifth goal of the season while freshman Baylee Williams notched her third.

The Purdue Fort Wayne Win
• Freshman Kamryn Rosa posted her fifth goal of the year to lead the Penguins to the 1-0 victory.
• Maya Naimoli earned her second clean sheet of the year with one save.

The Detroit Mercy Win
• Senior Taylor Berry scored a pair of goals and added an assist to lead the Penguins to a 4-2 home victory over Detroit Mercy on Sept. 28.
• Freshman Kamryn Rosa and sophomore Sara Felder each scored goals, and junior Camille Bultel added a pair of assists.

The Green Bay Win
• The Penguins picked up a 3-2 win over Green Bay in the 2025 Horizon League opener.
• Sophomore Sara Felder scored a goal and assisted on another to lead the Penguins.
• Freshman Kamryn Rosa scored her second goal of the year, and senior Emma Rigone was credited with the game-winner.
 • Sophomore Maya Naimoli registered seven saves.
• The win marked just the second time the Penguins began Horizon League play 1-0.

Naimoli Moving Up Lists
• Sophomore Maya Naimoli registered her fourth shutout of the season and the seventh clean sheet of her career in the Penguins' 3-0 win over Oakland on Oct. 16.
• She now ranks tied for second with seven career shutouts.
• Naimoli became the fourth Youngstown State goalkeeper to collect 11 career victories and ranks fourth on the all-time wins list.
• Naimoli is also moving up the career saves list with 183 and now ranks ninth all-time.

TB In Rare Company
• With her two goals and assist against Detroit Mercy on Sept. 28, senior Taylor Berry became the third YSU player to score at least 10 career goals with 10 career assists.
• Berry now has 11 goals and 10 assists, and she ranks tied for fourth all-time with 32 career points.
• Berry ranks tied for eighth in goals and tied for fourth in assists.

Rosa Rising
• Freshman Kamryn Rosa leads the team with six goals and has scored a goal in five of the last eight games.
• Youngstown State is 5-0-1 when Rosa scores a goal this season.
• This also marks the second straight year a YSU freshman has scored at least three goals in a season.
• Her six goals are the most by a freshman since Jade Flory had seven in 2011.
• Rosa also needs two more goals to tie the YSU freshman record for most goals scored in a season.

Felder Feasting
• Sophomore Sara Felder is picking up where she left off from last season.
• Felder, who has named to the Horizon League All-Freshman Team in 2024 after scoring three goals, now has six scores and three assists in 17 games this season.
• Felder leads the team in scoring with 15 points on six goals and three assists.
