Youngstown, Ohio – The Youngstown State women's soccer team battled through blustery elements to secure a 3-0 Senior Day victory over South Carolina State on Sunday afternoon at Farmers National Bank Field.
With the win, the Penguins improve to 7-8-2 overall and 5-1 at home while the Lady Bulldogs fall to 2-13.
Sara Felder scored for the sixth time this season while senior Sophia Blankenship recorded the first goal of her Penguins career, and freshman Baylee Williams posted her fourth goal of the year.
Senior Chloe Weiland tallied two assists and senior Marissa Masano added another.
Goalkeepers Aimee Benton and Nikki Whyte combined for the shutout.
Felder scored the game's first goal at the 9:50 mark after taking passes from Masano and Weiland and finding the lower-left corner for a 1-0 lead.
Just under a minute later, Blankenship found the lower-left corner to give the Penguins a 2-0 advantage at the 10:49 mark.
Williams sealed the game with an unassisted goal in the high-center at the 84:00 mark.
Youngstown State returns to Horizon League play against Northern Kentucky, Saturday, Oct. 25. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. at the NKU Soccer Stadium.
