Las Vegas, Nevada - The Youngstown State women's tennis team picked up a 5-2 win over Oral Roberts on Friday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
It marks the first time in school history that YSU has defeated the Golden Eagles.
The Penguins won the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. At No. 1, Julia Marko and Ghada Dirninger won by a 6-2 score while at No. 3, Line Greyling and Yeseniia Ovcharova picked up a 6- 4wint.
In singles, YSU won in straight sets at No. 4 and No. 5 and won in three sets at No. 1 and No. 2.
At No. 4, Dirninger picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win while at No. 5, Yoana Dudova earned a 6-1, 6-4 triumph. At No. 1, Marko won her first set 6-1 before dropping the second 6-2. She won her third set 6-2 to take the match. At No. 2, Lili Minich rallied to win her final two sets 6-3, 6-3 after dropping the first set.
ORU picked up wins at No. 3 and No. 6.
YSU returns to action on Saturday when it plays Weber State. First serve is set for 1 p.m. Eastern/10 a.m. Pacific time.
