Rochester, Mich. - Nia Grose and Esther Solarin both won events as the Youngstown State women's track and field team placed second at the Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the Elain Leigh Track and Field Complex on the Oakland University campus.
In the team standings, YSU finished with 130 points while Milwaukee won with 193.5.
Solarin, who won the long jump on Saturday, won her first outdoor triple jump title on Sunday. Grose won the 100m for the first time in her career as the Penguins won the race for the 13th straight year.
Finishing second for the Guins on Sunday were Krista Perry (hammer throw), Morgan Cole (1500m) and Melody Harloff (400m). Harloff was named the Women's Freshman of the Year/Running for her overall performance in her HLdebut.
Grose won the 100m with a time of 11.72 seconds to beat Jai Reed of PFW at the line. She extended YSU's dominance in the event which dates back to 2011.
Solarin had a winning jump of 12.87m in the triple jump while Daisha Decree took seventh with a mark of 11.48m. Solarin's mark also set a new mark for the Horizon League Championships.
In the hammer throw, Perry had second-place toss of 50.49m while Molly Radcliffe was seventh at 48.31m. Cole clocked a time of 4:36.50 in the 1500m and was second by just over a second in the race. Harloff posted a time of 56.36 seconds to place second in the 400m.
In the 200m, Harloff was sixth with a time of 25 seconds while Grose was eighth at 25.16 seconds.
