The Youngstown State men's and women's track and field teams took advantage of some great weather to send a group of 20 athletes to the Slippery Rock John Papa Invitational at the William Lenox Track on Thursday.
Highlighting the performances was a win in the women's pole vault by Gabbi Selman. Earning runner-up finishes were Logan Franczkowski (women's 200m), Kalli Knoble (women's high jump), Molly Hopple (5,000m) and Clancy Chrystal (men's 100m hurdles).
Selman tied for top honors in the pole vault clearing a height of 3.60m. She was one of three athletes to clear the height.
Franczkowski clocked a second-place time of 25.21 seconds in the 200m. Knoble cleared 1.55m in the high jump. Hopple ran a time of 19:20.81 to place second in the 5,000m.
Chrystal clocked a time of 14.55 seconds to finish second in the 110m hurdles while Garrett Laubacher placed third with a time of 14.70 seconds.
In the women's 100m hurdles, Lea Parham was fourth with a time of 15.17 seconds. In the women's 400m, Havilland Jones finished fourth with a time of 59.49 seconds. In the women's 800m, Alayna Cuevas was fourth running a time of 2:20.62.
In the women's long jump, Alexis Prater registered a fifth-place finish with a leap of 5.39m.
The men were third in the 4x400m relay while the women placed fourth.
The Penguins will continue a busy stretch competing at the Ohio State Jesse Owens Classic on Friday and Saturday.
