The Youngstown State men's tennis team dropped a tough 4-3 decision to Northern Kentucky on Saturday at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center.
The Penguins (8-10 overall and 2-4 in the Horizon League) picked up three singles wins against the Norse (11-6 and 5-1).
The Norse took a 1-0 lead with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. At No. 1, Nishant Dabas and Onder Balci won by a 6-3 margin.
In singles, the Guins collected victories at No. 3, No. 4 singles and No. 6. At No. 4, William Rassat picked up a 7-6 (4), 6-4 win while at No. 3, Balci won 6-1, 2-6, 6-1. At No. 6, David Alvarez battled back for a 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 victory.
The Norse won in straight sets at No. 5 and battled for three-set wins at No. 1 and No. 2. YSU led 3-2 before NKU picked up a 6-0, 4-6, 6-1 win at No. 1 and a 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 victory at No. 2 to earn the win.
YSU's final home match of the season is set for tomorrow against IUPUI. First serve against the Jaguars is set for 11 a.m.
