Nashville, Tenn. - The Youngstown State men's tennis picked up an impressive 4-3 win over Lipscomb at the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center on Wednesday.
YSU (5-5) picked up the doubles point and won three singles matches in straight sets to beat the Bison (5-7).
In doubles play, the Guins earned wins at No. 2 and No. 3 to earn the point. At No. 2 doubles, Nathan Favier and Harry Fouzas earned a 6-3 win while at No. 3, David Alvarez Moreno and William Rassat won 6-4. The Guins led 5-4 at No. 1 doubles when the point the was clinched.
In singles, Nishant Dabas, Favier and Onder Balci won matches for the Guins. At No. 1, Dabas won 6-2, 6-6, at No. 2, Favier won 6-2, 6-3 and at No. 4, Balci won 6-3, 6-1.
The Bison won in straight sets at No. 3 and No. 6 and picked up a three-set win at No. 5.
The Penguins play No. 72 Troy tomorrow morning in Clarksville, Tenn. First serve is set for 11 a.m. Eastern/10 a.m. Central time.
