Akron, Ohio – Melana Schumaker set a school record in the women's pole vault to highlight a strong YSU performance at the Al Campbell Invitational hosted by Akron on Friday at the Stiles Field House.
Schumaker won the pole vault, Ryan Henry won the shot put, Beau Gorby won the 3000m, Rachel Jeffries tied for the win in the high jump and Alexis Prater won the long jump during the event.
In the pole vault, Schumaker cleared a height of 4.13m to break the school record of 4.11m previously set by Erin Bogard. In the shot put, Ryan Henry had a personal-best toss of 18.21m to win the event. In the 3000m, Gorby clocked a winning time of 8:47.90. Prater took first in the long jump with a leap of 5.45m and Jeffries tied for the high jump victory at 1.60m.
In the women's shot put, Molly Radcliffe was third with a throw of 13.57m.
In the women's 3000m run, Kenzy Beckett was fourth with a time of 10:45.22. In the 60m hurdles, Teddi Kinsey placed fourth with a time of 9.12 seconds. Finishing fourth in the pole vault was Kaitlyn Eger with a leap of 3.83m.
In the men's 60m hurdles, Clancy Chrystal was second with a time of 8.53 seconds. In the men's high jump, Zachary Webb was second with a mark of 1.95m. In the pole vault, Dorian Chaigneau was second with a clearance of 5.32m.
In the men's 400m, Connor Durig was third with a time of 49.78 seconds and in the high jump he was fourth with a mark of 1.90m. In the 800m, Tobias Jones placed fourth with a time of 1:54.44.
Henry highlighted a 1-2 finish in the shot put as Dominic Perry was the runner up with a throw of 17.67m.
The Penguins return to action next weekend when they host the Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championships in WATTS.
