Indianapolis, Ind. – Three Youngstown State women's soccer player earned Horizon League academic accolades as the league announced its Horizon League Women's Soccer All-Academic Team.
Fifth-year senior Elis Klein Spindola and Emma Rigone were named to the All-Academic Team while graduate student Justine Appolonia earned honorable mention honors.
Klein Spindola, who carries a 4.0 grade-point average in business administration, was an Academic All-Horizon League Honorable Mention pick in 2023. She has appeared in 17 games in 2024 and has a goal and an assist. She was also a tour-time member of the Horizon League Honor Roll.
Rigone is a four-time member of the Horizon League Honor Roll and boasts a 4.0 GPA in nursing. Named team captain in 2024, she has appeared in every game this season and has scored one goal with two assists from her defender position.
Appolonia, who has a 4.0 GPA in math was an Academic All-Horizon League selection in 2023. She also earned Academic All-Horizon League Honorable Mention honors in 2022. She has started all 17 matches for the Penguins in 2024 and has recorded one assist in 2024.
Youngstown State plays its regular-season finale against Robert Morris Wednesday, Oct. 30. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. in Moon Township, Pa.
