The Southland Bowling League announced its 2023 Academic Honor Roll on Tuesday, and all nine Youngstown State bowlers were included on the list. There were 57 student-athletes across the league's institutions celebrated for their achievement in the classroom.
YSU tied Stephen F. Austin and Vanderbilt with a league-high nine selections to the honor roll. The Penguins had four of the 11 bowlers on the list with a 4.0 GPA as Hope Bunk, Lyndsay Ennis, Megan Grams and Kirsten Moore each possess a perfect cumulative grade-point average. Madyson Marx was one of 12 all-academic selections who also received all-conference honors.
The SBL Academic Honor Roll was put into place during the 2018-19 school year and is currently in its fifth season of recognition. All nominees for the Southland Bowling League's Academic Honor Roll team must have earned at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale and demonstrated athletics achievement for at least one year at the nominating institution.
