Bowling Announces 2025-26 Schedule for Program’s 10th Season

Youngstown, Ohio — Youngstown State's bowling team will begin its era as a national championship program at Holiday Bowl in Struthers at the annual Penguin Classic and compete in several new tournaments during the 2025-26 campaign. Head Coach Doug Kuberski announced the schedule for the program's 10th season on Thursday.

Youngstown State will feature a new-look roster in 2025-26, with seven newcomers joining two returners. The Penguins will be challenged throughout the fall and spring. The season-opening Penguin Classic at YSU's home center will be Oct. 17-19, and Youngstown State will bowl in two more fall tournaments and six spring events during the regular season.

Following the sixth edition of the Penguin Classic, YSU will head to the Destination Orlando event for the third straight season from Oct. 24-26. Youngstown State's final fall tournament will be the Colonial Lanes Classic in Harahan, La. It will mark YSU's first appearance at the event, which Tulane hosts, though the venue is familiar as the site of the Conference USA Championship the last two years.

The Penguins' busy spring slate begins Jan. 16 at the Northeast Classic in New Castle, Del, followed by the PVAMU Invitational in Arlington, Texas, the next week. It will be YSU's fifth straight year participating in each of those events. After a one-week break, Youngstown State will travel to Lockport, Ill., for the Flyer Classic hosted by Lewis on Feb. 6.

The Penguins will then face a grueling three-week stretch from Feb. 20 through March 8 with appearances at Nebraska's Big Red Invitational, North Carolina A&T's Stallings Invitational and Vanderbilt's Music City Classic. YSU has never competed at the Stallings Invitational before, and it will head to Lincoln, Neb., for the first time since the 2022-23 campaign. The Penguins will make their ninth trip to Smyrna, Tenn., for Vanderbilt's event just outside of Nashville, where they'll aim for their third straight top-two finish at the tournament.

YSU will return to Colonial Lanes for the Conference USA Championship beginning on March 19, and regionals will once again be held in Arlington, Texas, Lansing, Mich., Pittsburgh, Pa., and Rochester, N.Y., on April 3-4. The Final Four will be April 10-11 at Yorktown Lanes in Parma Heights, Ohio.
