Panna Ratkai had 24 kills and five aces to lead Purdue Fort Wayne to a three-set victory over the Youngstown State volleyball team on Saturday afternoon at Beeghly Center. The set scores were 25-18, 27-25, 25-18.
Ratkai had at least seven kills in each set, and she hit .388 on 49 attempts. She accounted for more than half of the Mastodons' points in the match.
Josi Borum was a kill shy of a triple-double for the Penguins. She finished with 12 assists, 11 digs and nine kills, which were all team highs. Jocelyn Jourdan was next in the kills column with six, Isabel Schaefbauer registered 10 assists, and Maria Insana posted eight digs.
With the score tied at 15 in the opening set, Ratkai had a kill and three aces during a 6-0 run that helped the Mastodons win 25-18. She then had a kill to tie the score at 25-25 when YSU had set point in the second set, and Purdue Fort Wayne went on to win 27-25. The Mastodons closed the third set on a 10-3 run to finish the match.
Youngstown State will conclude the season on Friday by hosting Robert Morris at 6 p.m. Borum, Kiley Mitchell, Elise Moeller and Isidora Sisic will be recognized as part of Senior Night.
