Youngstown State's Hunter Christopher will compete in the 5,000m run at Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener hosted by Boston University on Saturday at the Terriers' Track and Tennis Center. Christopher will race against some of the top athletes in the nation at the event.

His race is scheduled to start at 6:25 p.m. and will be televised by FloTrack.

Last year, Christopher was the Horizon League Champion in the 3,000m and 5,000m runs. He holds the school record in the 5,000m with a time of 13:50.04 which he set in Boston on Jan. 27.

During the recently concluded cross country season, Christopher clocked a time of 30:23.9 in the men's 10k at the NCAA Regionals to break the previous school record by over 30 seconds. Christopher's impressive time earned him the 26th individual spot in the region.

At the Horizon League Cross Country Championships, Christopher, a senior from Salem, Ohio, earned the first individual cross country title of his career after finishing runner-up in 2021 and fourth in 2022. He sealed his victory with an impressive time of 24:04.17 in the men's 8k, finishing 10 seconds ahead of the other runners.

At the Arturo Barrios Invitational in College Station, Texas, on Oct. 13, Christopher clocked a 23:17.5 in the men's 8k to break his previous school record set earlier this season by over 30 seconds.
