The Youngstown State volleyball had trouble slowing down Green Bay's offense on Saturday in a three-set loss to the Phoenix at the Kress Center. The set scores were 25-18, 25-21, 25-19.
Green Bay had just seven attack errors in the entire match and hit .327 collectively. YSU hit .210 and had just three fewer kills than the Phoenix, but the Penguins had 16 attack errors.
Elise Moeller led Youngstown Sate with 10 kills in 30 attempts, and Isabel Schaefbauer had a pair of aces and 18 assists. Moeller added 10 digs for a double-double, and Josi Borum also had a double-double with a team-best 12 digs and 14 asssts. YSU had just one block in the match, and it came from Jazmin Vergara and Dayana Malave.
Hannah Vanden Berg led Green Bay offensively with 14 kills while hitting .364. Ellie Kurpeikis had seven kills in nine attempts while also contributing four blocks.
Youngstown State will wrap up the season with three straight home matches at Beeghly Center in November. The stretch begins on Friday as the Penguins host IUPUI at 6 p.m.
