Late Runs Lead Golden Grizzlies to Sweep of Softball

Rochester, Mich. -- The Youngstown State softball team dropped a pair of games to Oakland, 1-0, and 3-1, in a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon at the Oakland Softball Field.
The Penguins fall to 26-22 overall and 11-9 in Horizon League play while the Golden Grizzlies improve to 19-11 overall and 14-3 in league play.
In game one, sophomore Sophie Howell struck out eight and scattered eight hits in a complete-game loss.
Sophomore Sydney Payne recorded the Penguins only hit in the opener.
In game two, freshman Bree Kohler's fielder's choice plated Nikki Saibene to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning.
The Golden Grizzlies tied the game in the bottom of the fifth and scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to seal the win.
Youngstown State visits Purdue Fort Wayne in a three-game series, April 29-30, in Fort Wayne, Ind.
