Penguins Place Sixth at Dolores Black Falcon Invitational

The Youngstown State women's golf team placed sixth on Sunday in the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational hosted by Bowling Green at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green, Ohio.

The Penguins, who finished with a two-round team total of 625, posted a 320 in the opening round on Saturday before recording a 305 in the final round on Sunday. The teams battled cold, snowy conditions in the first round on Saturday.

Danae Rugola finished tied for 13th with a two-round score of 154 (79-75) to earn her fifth top-15 finish of the season. The junior's first-round 79 featured nine pars and a birdie on the par-four No. 9. Rugola's second-round 75 included 15 pars and three bogeys as she made par on each of her final 10 holes. The Uniontown, Pa., native fired an even-par 36 on the front nine during the final session.

Lizzie Saur finished in a tie for 20th after posting a two-round 155 (81-74). The freshman moved up 15 spots on the leaderboard with her two-over-par performance in the final round on Sunday. Saur's second-round 74 featured 11 pars and three birdies as she made par or better on 12 of her 14 final holes.

Puthita Khuanrudee tied for 25th with a two-round total of 156 (77-79). The senior's first-round 77 featured seven pars and three birdies as she carded an even-par 36 on the back nine. Khuanrudee's final-round 79 included 11 pars and a birdie on the par-four No. 3 as she made par or better on 12 of her first 15 holes.

Christina Lewis posted a two-round 160 (83-77) to finish tied for 38th. The junior's second-round 77 featured nine pars and a pair of birdies as she notched a one-over-par 37 on the front nine. Playing as an individual, Victoria Gräns finished with a two-round score of 166 (83-83). Madie Smithco concluded the event with a two-round 169 (85-84). Smithco's final round featured a birdie on the par-three No. 16.

Bowling Green fired a tournament-low 288 in the final round on Sunday to pull away for a 13-stroke victory over runner-up Akron. The Falcons and Zips were tied for first place following Saturday's first round. Cleveland State placed third while Detroit Mercy and Central Michigan rounded out the top five, respectively. The Penguins finished one stroke ahead of seventh-place Eastern Michigan and eight strokes in front of eight-place Oakland.

MacKenzie Moore (Bowling Green), Alexa Hatz (Detroit Mercy), Jacinta Pikunas (Akron) each carded a two-round 146 to finish tied atop the individual leaderboard.

Youngstown State will continue its spring schedule on Friday when it hosts the YSU Spring Invitational at Youngstown Country Club in Youngstown, Ohio.
