Rinaldi's Walk-Off Single Leads Softball to 4-3 Win Over Rhode Island

Boiling Springs, N.C. -- Junior Conchetta Rinaldi's eighth-inning single lifted the Youngstown State softball team to a 4-3 win over Rhode Island on Saturday evening at the Gardner-Webb Tournament. The Penguins lost to Colgate, 6-5, eariler in the day.
With the win, the Penguins improve to 1-3 on the season.
Senior Nikki Saibene went 3-for-4 with a triple and two runs batted in while Alex DeLeon and Rinaldi each had two hits.
Senior Elle Buffenbarger picked up her first win of the year firing a complete game with eight strikeouts.
Down 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh, DeLeon recorded a one-out single and scored on Saibene's triple to tie the game.
In the opener, Hailey Niederkohr went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs.
Yazmine Romero and Grace Cea has a pair of hits while Conchetta Rinaldi drove in two.
Bree Kohler struck out seven in the loss.
The Penguins close out the tournament against Gardner-Webb, Sunday, Feb. 13, at 11 a.m.
