Milwaukee, Wis. -- The Youngstown State women's soccer team dropped a hard-fought 1-0 decision to top-seeded Milwaukee on Saturday afternoon at Engelmann Stadium.
The Penguins, who were picked to finish ninth the coaches' preseason poll, finish the season with a program-best record of 9-8-3 and set a school record with a 5-3-2 mark in Horizon League play. The Panthers improve to 12-3-3 overall and earned the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
The Panthers scored at the 23:40 mark of the game and that was all the offense needed for the victory.
Jordan Evans led the Penguins with two shots while Regan LaVigna, Mikayla Mustard and Haley Curtis each has shots on goal.
Goalkeeper Brooklynn Kirkpatrick posted six saves.
Kirkpatrick, Abriana Rondin and Taylor Berry were named to the Horizon League All-Tournament Team.
