Box Score Pittsburgh, Pa. - The Youngstown State women's soccer team scored in the sixth minute of match, but dropped a 2-1 decision to Duquesne on Sunday afternoon at Rooney Field.
The Penguins fall to 0-5-0 on the year while the Dukes improve to 2-1-1.
Junior Abriana Rondin scored at the 5:48 mark to give the Penguins a 1-0 lead. Freshman Maddie Angelo found Maddie Root on a long pass over the Duquense defense, and Root's touch pass to Rondin beat the charging Dukes goalkeeper and Rondin's left-footer sealed the score in an open net.
The Dukes tied the match with a goal at the 28:22 mark and scored the eventual game-winner in the 53rd minute.
The Penguins outshot the Dukes, 14-13, but Duquesne had more shots on goal, 6-5.
Senior goalkeeper Zeeyana Jivraj posted four saves.
Youngtown State hosts St. Bonaventure, Thursday, Sept. 9. Kickoff is at 5 p.m. at Farmers National Bank Field.
