Lewisburg, Pa. -- The Youngstown State women's soccer team dropped its 2021 season opener to Bucknell on Thursday afternoon at Emmett Field.

The Penguins fall to 0-1 while the Bison improve to 1-0.

Senior goalkeeper Zeeyana Jivraj talled eight saves while facing a total of 23 shots.

Freshman Rachel Austin posted two shots while freshman Maddy Bellaver recorded the Penguins' lone shot on goal.

After a cross by Maddie Root, Bellaver header at the 6:34 mark of the game was saved by Bucknell's Jenna Hall.

Nine minutes later, the Bison's Abby Gearhart found Rylee Donaldson along the right side of the YSU penalty box and Donaldson's shot slipped past the charging Jivraj for the game's only goal.

The Penguins visit Kent State, Thursday, Aug. 26. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. in Kent, Ohio.
