Youngstown State senior Collin Harden took home first place in the 400m hurdles on Friday afternoon at the Blue Oval during day two the Drake University Relays.

Collin Harden captured the gold medal in the men's 400m hurdles, clocking a 51.37 in the event - a season best. Harden's time also moves up to 18th-fastest in the East Region.
By winning their heat with a time of 45.62, the women's 4x100 team comprised of Jaliyah Elliott, Jahniya Bowers, Suerethia Henderson and Kyndia Matlock have qualified for Saturday's final heat. The squad ran the third-fastest time of the day.
The Penguins placed two runners inside the top-10 in the women's 200m dash. Suerethia Henderson led YSU finishers with a 25.06 to finish sixth in the event, followed by Teneisha Myers who tabbed a 10th-place finish (25.66). Not far behind, Kyndia Matlock placed 12th with a time of 25.66.
Representing YSU's sole entry in the women's 100m hurdles, Teddi Kinsey posted a 14.73 in her preliminary race. Adding to her day, Kinsey posted a personal-best 1:04.11 in the women's 400m hurdles – the 12th-fastest time of the day.
To cap the day in Des Moines for the Guins, Sean Peterson clocked a 3:51.31 in the men's 1500m dash to post the 12th-fastest time in the event.
Hillsdale College "Gina" Relays
In the men's 1500m run, Ty Coon ran a personal-best time of 3:54.53 to post a top-5 finish at the Hillsdale "Gina" Relays. Not far behind, teammate Hunter Christopher finished ninth, posting a personal-best 3:56.30.
Ethan Sparks shaved 25 seconds off his previous personal best in the men's 3000m steeplechase en route to an 11th place finish in the race. Sparks ran a 9:27.65. In the women's event, Maggie Sebest posted an 11:20.07 in the 3000m steeplechase, finishing 20th in the event and ahead of 19 runners.
Setting a 33-second personal best in the women's 5000m run, Ashleigh Rowley finished the event in 12th with a time of 17:12.25.
Mackenzie Scott, in the last event of the meet, ran a personal-best 37:29.10 in the women's 10000m run, posting a 12th-place finish in the event. Scott's time is the fourth-fastest time run in the Horizon Legaue standings to date.
Ashland Alumni Open
In a day solely for the hammer throw, Sammy Dyson tallied the Penguins best finisher in the women's elite event, posting a 52.80m throw to finish sixth. In the non-elite event, Emily Wolf posted a 45.88m mark to finish seventh.
On the men's side, Joe Pfeffer tallied a personal-best 56.60m throw on his sixth and final attempt to earn a bronze medal in the event.
