The Youngstown State football team dropped a 21-0 decision to fifth-ranked UNI on Saturday afternoon at Stambaugh Stadium.
The Penguins fall to 0-2 on the season while the Panthers improve to 1-1.
Youngstown State's defense held its own through more than three quarters and allowed just two first-half field goals, 32 and 41 yards, by Matthew Cook.
The Panthers capitalized on good field position in the fourth quarter and scored a pair of touchdowns by running back Dom Williams. UNI scored on an 11-play, 57-yard drive and a nine-play, 45-yard drive with 7:28 left in the game.
Jaleel McLaughlin led the Penguins with 38 yards rushing on eight carries while Mark Waid had 37 yards on the ground. Waid also completed 8-of-10 passing for 33 yards.
Jake Benio caught four passes for 41 yards to lead the Penguins' receivers.
The Panthers gained 374 total yards on 73 plays and won the time of possession 33:51-26:09. UNI used a balanced attack with 191 yards on the ground and 183 passing.
Williams rushed 15 times for 35 yards and two touchdowns while Tyler Hoosman gained 68 yards on 12 carries. Will McElvain completed 15-of-30 passes for 183 yards for the Panthers.
On defense, Vinny Gentile had a game-high nine tackles for the Penguins while Troy Jakubec had eight and Grant Dixon and Griffin Hoak each finished with seven stops.
The Penguins will play host to Southern Illinois next Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 12 p.m. at Stambaugh Stadium.
