The Youngstown State football team will play its annual Red-White Spring Football Game on Saturday morning at Stambaugh Stadium. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. The contest will be carried live on 570 WKBN.
Admission for the contest is free while parking is available in nearby YSU lots for $5. Seating for the contest will be in the West stands only.
The game will feature the Offense (Red Team) vs. the Defense (White Team) in a format that will include a variety of scrimmage-like situations.
The first half will include two 15-minute quarters with normal clock procedures. The second half will have a continuous 20-minute running clock.
Warmups for the game will begin at 10:10 a.m. Should inclement weather occur, the practice may be moved inside the WATTS.
The offensive side will be led by returning Walter Payton Award winner Beau Brungard at quarterback. At tailback, Jaden Gilbert and Tahir Mills return along with tight ends Austin Bray and Alex McDonald. The offensive line is deep with return of Desmeal Leigh, Van Keen, Shane Keenan, Matthew Keeley, Nick Nielsen and Isaac Perkins.
At placekicker, three-year starter Andrew Lastovka returns along with Josh Wilkins.
The defense features All-American Michael Wells, along with LB Carston Marshall, LB Graydon Rollins, DT Connor Johannesen and DE Michael Voitus.
YSU will begin fall camp in late July with the season opener set for August 27 against Mercyhurst at Stambaugh Stadium.
