Kalamazoo, Mich. - The Youngstown State men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to Western Michigan on Friday afternoon at the West Hills Athletic Club.
The Penguins dropped close matches at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles as the Broncos won the point.
In singles play, Laurentiu Mandocescu battled for three sets against Kennosuke Nouchi. Nouchi won the first set, 7-5, before Mandocescu took the second, 6-3. In the super tiebreaker, Nouchi won 10-5 to take the match.
At No. 1 singles, Vasilis Vardakis dropped a hard-fought 7-6, 6-3 decision to Jannik Opitz. At No. 2, Joao Garretto suffered a 6-2, 6-4 setback to Peter Kuszynski. In action at No. 4, Erik Gran lost 7-5, 6-3 to Jack Randall. In action at No. 5, Will Everett lost 6-1, 6-4 to Rodrigo Crespo and at No. 6 Baher El Mekawi lost 6-3, 6-1 to Arjun Honnappa.
The Penguins are next in action on March 11 when they visit Lamar.
