Rochester, Michigan - Brooklyn Blake scored in the 106th minute to lift Oakland past the Youngstown State women's soccer team 1-0, on Friday evening from the Oakland Soccer Field.

Oakland improves to 3-4-1 (1-0 HL) while the Penguins drop to 2-6-1 (0-1).

Oakland nearly took the lead in the 11th minute when a shot from Sierra Grodsinsky was saved by Kate McEachern which was followed by a rebound shot that hit the post. Regan LaVigna provided a scoring opportunity with a shot that was saved by the Golden Grizzlies' goal keeper.

At the half, the Golden Grizzlies were outshooting the Penguins 5-1 while neither team had a corner kick opportunity.

Oakland applied a lot of offense pressure in the second half forcing McEachern to make three saves on 10 shots but were unable to break a scoreless tie.

After a scoreless first overtime period, Taylor Thalheimer connected on pass with Brooklyn Blake who found the back of the net at the 105:51 mark.

For the game, the Golden Grizzlies out shot the Penguins 19-3 and had more corner kick opportunities, 7-1. McEachern finished the match with six saves while LaVigna, Addie Roman and Lily Welch each recorded a shot for the Penguins.

The Penguins return home on Sunday for the final non-conference match of the season when they host Kent State at 1 p.m. from Farmers National Bank Field. Sunday's match will feature a YSU water bottle giveaway, a Pete The Penguin photo day and the YSU soccer camp attendee day.
