Pittsburgh, Pa. -- The Youngstown State women's soccer team struck first, but had to settle for a 1-1 double overtime tie with Duquesne on Sunday afternoon at Rooney Field.
The Penguins move to 1-1-1 overall and Duquesne is now 1-1-1 overall.
Youngstown State got on the board in the 20th minute when Kyler Lum scored her second goal of the season. Junior Rachel Hutton took control of the ball on the left side of the field and tapped a pass to sophomore Ernestina Abambila. Abambila found Lum, who scored from 25 yards out.
Duquesne knotted the match in the 48th minute on a penalty kick to the lower-left side of the net.
Senior goalkeeper face 27 shots, nine shots and goal and posted eight saves in 110 minutes in goal.
Duquense outshot the Penguins, 27-13, and took 17 cornerkicks.
Lum led the Penguins with five shots and juniors Katie Hackos and Marissa Martin had three shots each.
The Penguins visit IPFW, Friday, Sept. 2, at 11:30 a.m.
