Box Score Mount Pleasant, Mich. -- Sophomore Ernestina Abambila scored her first goal as a member of the Youngstown State women's soccer team, but the Penguins dropped a 3-1 decision to Central Michigan on Friday evening at the CMU Soccer Complex.
With the loss the Penguins fall to 1-1 on the season and Central Michigan improves to 3-0.
The Chippewas wasted no time getting on the board early when Alexis Pelafas scored her fifth goal of the season less than three minutes into the match.
Taylor Potts scored in the 28th minute and Madison Costner scored in the 44th minute to give the Chippewas a 3-0 lead at the half.
Abambila cut the Penguins' deficit to 3-1 with a unassisted goal on a free kick from 20 yards in the 88th minute.
Junior Kyler Lum and Abambila led the Penguins with three shots each, and senior goalkeeper Katie Montgomery had four saves.
The Penguins visit Duquesne, Sunday, Aug. 28, at 1 p.m.
