Youngstown, Ohio -- Paige Geanangel picked up a pair of wins and Miranda Castiglione went 5-for-7 on the day to lead the Youngstown State softball team to a sweep of Robert Morris, 8-0, and 8-2, on Tuesday afternoon at the YSU Softball Field.

With the sweep, the Penguins improve to 15-11 overall while the Colonials fall to 7-24 on the year.

In the opener, Geanangel struck out three and allowed just five hits to pick up her fifth straight win and the sixth of the year.

Castiglione went 2-for-4 with two RBIs while junior Brittney Moffatt went 2-for-2 with two runs scored.

Katie Smallcomb singled down the left-field line to score Stevie Taylor with the Penguins' first run in the bottom of the second. Smallcomb then scored on a fielder's choice by Sarah Dowd and Moffatt scored on a wild pitch to go up 3-0 after two.

The Penguins scored four times in the bottom of fourth on a run-scoring single by Dowd, a two-run single by Castiglione and a fielding error.

In the bottom of the sixth, Cali Mikovich scored on a passed ball to enforce the mercy rule.

Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning of game two, Maria Lacatena clubbed the first grand slam of her career to center field to give the Penguins a 5-2 lead.

Mikovich, who had three hits, led off the fifth with a single to left field and moved to third on Castiglione's single through the right side. Mikovich scored on a double steal and extended the Penguins' lead to 6-2.

The Penguins added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on a run-scoring single through the right side by double and a ground-rule double by Castiglione that plated Moffatt.

Geanangel pitched four innings of scoreless relief and allowed just two hits to earn her seventh victory of the season.

The Penguins visit Horizon League foe Oakland in a three-game series, April 1-2, in Rochester, Mich.
