Box Score

Green Bay scored 20 consecutive points in the first half and dominated the paint in a 69-35 victory over the Youngstown State women's basketball team on Thursday evening at the Kress Center.

YSU's Nikki Arbanas tied for game-high honors with 13 points, and she made three 3-pointers for her seventh straight game with at least three triples. Kelsea Newman was next in the scoring column with six points, and Kelley Wright grabbed a career-best nine rebounds.

Green Bay was led by Jessica Lindstrom, who scored 13 points and grabbed 17 of UWGB's 56 rebounds. Green Bay was plus-27 in rebounding margin, and the Phoenix turned 25 offensive rebounds into a 22-2 edge in second-chance points. Green Bay also outscored YSU 40-5 in the paint.

Youngstown State made four 3-pointers in the first seven minutes, and Newman's triple with 3:20 remaining in the opening period gave the Penguins a 14-9 lead. Green Bay scored the final nine points of the first period and the first 11 points of the second to go up 29-14.

Jill Blacksten stopped the 20-point run with a jumper, YSU's first bucket inside the arc of the game, at the 3:20 mark of the second period, which was 10:09 after Newman's 3-pointer. After Jenna Hirsch hit a 3 to get the Penguins within 33-19 with a minute left before halftime, Green Bay scored the final three points of the half and the first 10 of the third period to take a 27-point lead. The final score was the largest margin of the game.

Green Bay held YSU leading scorer Sarah Cash scoreless for the first 24 minutes, and the Penguins made just two buckets inside the 3-point arc all night.

Youngstown State will conclude its swing through Wisconsin on Saturday when it plays at Milwaukee at 3 p.m. Eastern.
