Women's Soccer Falls to Wright State in Overtime, 2-1

Box Score

Youngstown -- Wright State's Mattie Cutts scored just 1:41 into overtime to lead the Raiders to a 2-1 win over the Youngstown State women's soccer team on Sunday afternoon at Farmers National Bank Field.

The Penguins fall to 2-9-1 overall and 0-4 in the Horizon League while the Raiders improve to 5-6-1 overall and 3-0-1 in the league.

In overtime, WSU's Aaliyah Patten lofted a crossing pass into the penalty box to Niki Romero, whose one-touch pass near the goal found Cutts in front of an open goal for the game-winner.

Junior Ernestina Abambila tied the game at 1-1 in the 66th minute on a penalty kick. It was Abambila's sixth goal of the season, and marked the first time a YSU player has scored at least six goals in a season since Kathy Baquero in 2014.

Cutts gave the Raiders an early 1-0 lead in the 10th minute with her third goal of the season.

The Penguins visit Northern Kentucky, Saturday, Oct. 8, at 4:30 p.m.
