Lexiington, Va. -- Senior Karlee Kline scored a goal in the 30th minute and that was all the offense the Youngstown State women's soccer team needed in a 1-0 win over VMI in the 2015 season opener.

The Penguins improve to 1-0 on the year while VMI falls to 0-1.

Following a corner kick by Kyler Lum, Kline and sophomore Katie Hackos each had shots at the net but were denied each time. Kline recovered the ball after multple tips in the box and recorded her second career goal.

The Penguins outshot the Keydets, 13-4, and had six shots on goal to zero.

Junior goalkeeper Katie Montgomery recorded her second career shutout in the win.

Hackos led the Penguins with three total shots and two shots on goal.

The Penguins visit Longwood, Sunday, Aug. 23, at 7 p.m.
