South Bend, Ind. - Youngstown State junior distance runner Austin McLean posted the second-fastest indoor mile run on Saturday afternoon at the Alex Wilson Invitational hosted by Notre Dame at the Loftus Sports Center.
McLean finished fourth in the race clocking in at 4:08.59 in the second heat of the mile run. McLean was just two-and-a-half seconds behind the winner of the race, Bradley's Michael Ward.
McLean, who's previous-best time was 4:12.62 improved his time by four seconds. He is now second in school history behind Kurt Michaelis school mark of 4:02.71 which was set in 2003 at the Alex Wilson Invitational.
The Penguins will return to action next weekend when they play host to the Horizon League Championships. Events are set for Saturday and Sunday at the WATTS.
