Akron, Ohio - Youngstown State sophomore McKinsie Klim took first place at the 46th annual Tommy Evans Invitational held at Akron's Firestsone Metro Park on a warm Thursday night. Austin McLean led the men with a seventh-place finish.
Klim posted an impressive time of 18:35 to win by six seconds ahead of Kent State's Kelsey McAlpine. Michelle Klim was the second-best finisher for the Penguins placing sixth with a time of 18:59.
McKinsie Klim was coming off a strong second-place finish at the Duquesne Duals.
Other finishers for the women included Libby Rogenski who was 23rd at 20:27, Brittany Stockmaster finished 25th with a time of 20:39, Melissa Klim placed 32nd with a time of 21:06, Ashley Smith was 42nd clocking in at 21:58 while Megan Monte was 50th at 23:53.
McLean paced the men to team wins over Kent State and Marshall with a time of 20:39 to finish seventh. Nick Gliha was 10th with a time of 20:45, Ryan Sullivan placed 12th with a time of 20:52 and Alan Burns came in 14th clocking a time of 21:11 to give the Guins four finishers in the top 15 runners.
Other finishes for the men included Kyle Joynes who was 19th with a time of 21:23, John Hutnyan came in 23rd with a 21:30, right behind in 24th was Jon Richmond with a time of 21:32, James Neidrich placed 32nd at 22:01 and Ethan Wilson was 36th at 22:28.
The Penguins are off until Sept. 20 when they compete at Iona' Brian Doyle Meet of Champions on Sept. 20.
