2013 (Sophomore): Competed in one meet…placed 38th at the Horizon League Cross Country Championship with a time of 27:28.35…helped lead the Penguins to place second overall at the Horizon League Cross Country Championship. 

2012 (Freshman): Competed in all five events...at the Horizon League Championships posted a time of 27:40 to place 40th...finished 18th in collegiate debut at the Duquesne Duals with a time of 28:13...was 20th at the Tommy Evans Invitational finishing the course in 21:29...was 82nd at the Notre Dame Invitational posting a time of 26:37...at the NCAA Pre-Nationals had a time of 27:31.0...earned his first letter.

High School: Personal bests include 4:32.48 in the 1,600-meter run, 9:28.78 in the 3,200-meter run, 16:06.40 in the 5,000 meters and 1:58.75 in the 800-meter run...first-team All-Ohio in the two-mile run and 4x800-meter relay...in Cross Country was a two-time second team All-Ohio selection...McDonald was the 2011 State Track and Field Champions and the 2011 Cross Country State Champs and 2012 runner up..
