Haney, Riddle Score, Podolsky Ties Wins Mark in Victory Over Tiffin

Senior Chelsey Haney and freshman Sydney Riddle each scored goals and senior goalkeeper Jackie Podolsky tied the school record for career wins as the YSU women's soccer team defeated Tiffin, 2-0, on Tuesday night at Farmers National Bank Field.
With the win, the Penguins improve to 4-3-1 overall and match last season's win total. Tiffin fell to 0-5.
The Penguins controlled the tempo and possession of the ball and outshot the Dragons, 29-6. Fourteen different players took shots for the Penguins and seven different players took shots on goal.
Several shots just missed the mark in the first half until Haney gave the Penguins a 1-0 lead just six minutes before the intermission.
Haney grabbed a pass from freshman Abby Kenski, did spin move in the box and buried a shot in the upper-right corner of the goal with 6:10 left in the half.
In the second half, the Penguins continued their pressure on the Tiffin goalkeeper with 13 shots, but they could not finish until the final minute of the contest.
With less than a minute left, redshirt freshman Rachel Hutton fed Haney a pass down the side who then lifted a cross to Riddle for her first career goal.
Podolsky tied the all-time win mark with 12 set by Christine Handte from 1998-2001.
Haney also became just the eighth player in school history to score 10 career goals.
The Penguins visit Akron, Friday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m.
