Women's Soccer Closes Out Non-League Slate Hosting Tiffin, Visiting Akron

The Youngstown State women's soccer team closes out the non-league portion of the 2014 schedule when it hosts Tiffin, Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m. and visits Akron, Friday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m.
Last Time Out
The Penguins dropped a 3-0 decision to Duquesne on Friday, Sept. 12.
About Tiffin
Tiffin enters the match with an 0-4 overall record and is coming off a 3-0 loss to Cedarville on Saturday, Sept. 13. Svetlana Gudenkova leads the team with five points on two goals and an assist while Emorie Milford has two goals.
The Tiffiin Series
This is just second meeting between Youngstown State and Tiffin. The Dragons own a 1-0 advantage in the all-time series after defeating the Penguins, 3-1, in 1996.
About Akron
Akron owns an overall record of 3-3-1 and is coming off a 3-2 double-overtime win over Bryant on Sunday, Sept. 14. The Zips are led by Sarah Sivic and and Amy Dean, who each have two goals. Loreana Lonigro has a team-high four assists.

This is the sixth meeting between Youngstown State and Akron. The Zips have won four of the five meetings and the team's tied, 1-1, last season.
Haney Moving Up Charts
With her goal against Malone on Sept. 5, senior Chelsey Haney has moved up the lists of a pair of YSU career statistical categories. Haney now ranks eighth with 25 career points and tied for eighth with nine career goals. She also ranks fourth with 123 career shots and needs seven more to move into third place.
Lum Assists
Against Malone, freshman Kyler Lum was credited with assists on the goals scored by Macey Riese and Abby Kenski. She is the first YSU freshman to post two assists in a match since 2002.
Podolsky in the Book
Senior goalkeeper is also inching her way up in the YSU record book. Podolsky is Youngstown State's career leader with a 1.37 goals-against average, ranks second with 11 career wins and eighth with 143 career saves.
Scoring Balance
The Penguins have scored 13 goals in the last five matches. Those 13 goals have been scored by 10 different players. YSU is one goal shy of matching 2013's season total.
