Pitching Leads Softball to Two Victories at Rebel Games

Kissimmee, Fla. -- Sophomore Casey Crozier and freshman Kayla Haslett each turned in complete-game outings and led the Youngstown State softball team to a pair of victories at the Rebel Games on Monday afternoon. The Guins defeated Saint Peter's, 9-1, and Rider, 2-1, in eight innings.
Crozier struck out six and allowed just five hits in five innings. She also did not allow an earned run in her third victory of the season.
Haslett scattered just six hits and struck out two in her second complete game of the season to pick up her second win.
The Guins improve to 7-2 after the two-game sweep. Saint Peter's is now 0-8 and Rider is now 3-10-1.
Against Saint Peter's junior Vicky Rumph went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in and senior Jordan Ingalls smacked a three-run double.
Senior Kristen Philen also belted her first home run of the season.
The Guins scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning, one in the second and four more in the fourth.
In the second game, Samantha Snodgrass' sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth gave the Guins a 1-0 lead.
After Rider tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth, Haley Thomas scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch in the top of the eighth inning.
The Guins and Northern Colorado square off on Tuesday at 9 a.m.
