Cleveland, Ohio -- The Youngstown State men's golf team used solid first and third rounds to finish fourth at the 11-team Cleveland State Invitational which concluded on Tuesday at the Canterbury Golf Club.

The Penguins finished with a three-round score of 892 after posting rounds of 293, 309 and 295. YSU was in second place following the opening round and on Tuesday had the fourth-lowest team score of the day. Oakland led wire-to-wire with a three-round score of 871 while Cleveland State was second (874) and Appalachian State was third (892).

Bill Gaffney was the top individual finisher for YSU with a sixth-place score of 218. Gaffney carded an even-par 72 on Tuesday after firing a pair of 73s on Monday. Mark Olbrych had the lowest YSU round on Tuesday with a one-under par 71. Olbrych placed ninth with a three-round score of 221 after shooting 74 and 76 on the first day.

Trevor Jones finished 26th with a 229 (73-78-78), in his collegiate debut Steven Sveda was 32nd with a 230 (79-77-74), D.J. Holub was 34th with a 231 (75-79-77), Bryan Yeo was 40th carding a 234 (73-85-76) and Brandon Pluchinsky was 54th with a 239 (81-82-76).

The Penguins return to action on Monday-Tuesday when they are one of 15 teams who will compete at the UC Bearcats Invitational.
