Retha Koefoed scored on a penalty kick with 3:09 left in overtime to Howard past the Youngstown State women's soccer team, 1-0, on Friday afternoon at Stambaugh Stadium.
The Penguins fall to 1-4 overall while the Bison improve to 1-3.
Youngstown State possessed the ball for much of the game and out-shot Howard, 13-6, and led the Bison in corner kicks, 5-4.
Freshman Allison Ludwig led the Penguins with five shots and two shots on goal.
The Penguins host UMKC, Sunday, Sept. 5, at Noon at Stambaugh Stadium.
