Snyder Notches Sixth Career Shutout in 0-0 Tie Against Saint Francis

Youngstown -- Senior goalkeeper Mariah Snyder recorded two saves and notched her sixth career shutout as the Youngstown State soccer team posted a 0-0 double-overtime tie against Saint Francis (Pa.) on Sunday afternoon at Stambaugh Stadium.
The Penguins moved to 3-4-2 while the Red Flash go to 4-2-2.
Youngstown State controlled most of the game offensively taking a season-high 27 shots, including 16 shots on goal.
The Penguins, who tallied six shots on goal in the first half and seven in the second stanza, were led offensively by Kara Cooper's nine shots and Geneva Strelka's five shots. Cooper also tallied five shots on goal while Strelka posted four.
The Penguins, though, were stymied by an outstanding goalkeeping effort by the Red Flashes' Lauren Fearer, who posted 16 saves. Fearer denied the Penguins with several diving and leaping saves to preserve her own shutout.
Youngstown State opens Horizon League play against Loyola, Friday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. at Stambaugh Stadium.
