Louisville, Ky. -- On a national stage where the 2009 NCAA
Mideast Regionals are set to take place, freshman Kiplangat Tisia
shattered YSU's previous best time in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase
on Friday at the Cardinal Twilight.
Tisia was victorious in the event with a time of 8:49.25,
beating second place by just under 20 seconds. With the time, Tisia
broke the school record that stood since 2004, ranks 16th
nationally and owns the top time among freshmen in the event.

shot put at the meet. Merrill threw a distance of 17.33m, missing
first place by .05m.
