Indianapolis, Ind. -- As a result of sophomore Danielle Curry's
school-record throw in the shot put at the Sparky Adams
Invitational, the Horizon League has announced that Curry has been
named Female Field Athlete of the Week.
At the event, Curry won shot put with a distance of 14.17m and
also added a third-place finish in the hammer throw and a
fourth-place finish the discus.
Curry's throw in the shot put is the best Horizon League mark
during the outdoor season by over three feet to this point. Curry
also owns the best Horizon League mark in the discus.
Curry joins Joe Lahmon as the only other Penguins to be named
athlete of the week in the outdoor season. Alisha Anthony,
Kiplangat Tisia, and Adam Kagarise who were named to this honor
during the indoor season.
The Penguins will be busy this weekend as the squad will compete
in both the Penn Relays in Philadelphia and the St. Francis Red
Flash Relays in Loretto, Pa.
