Box Score 2 Youngstown --
Youngstown State will attempt to play its first home non-conference
game in more than a month when it hosts No. 25 Kent State in
doubleheader Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Eastwood Field.
The Penguins, coming off a dramatic
walk-off win Saturday against Milwaukee, have had four straight
home non-league contests rained out. In fact, their only non-league
game since March 25 was at Kent State on April 14. The Golden
Flashes won that game 5-3.
YSU entered the game at KSU having won
five of six, but the loss starting a three-game skid for the
Penguins. YSU rebounded to rally from four runs down to defeat
Milwaukee 8-7 in the ninth on Saturday.
The Penguins had seven hits in the final
four innings, which they're hoping snapped a five-game
hitting funk. YSU had averaged 2.6 runs and 6.2 hits over its
previous five contests. YSU had 10 hits or more in four straight
immediately prior.
YSU will play doubleheaders at Milwaukee
and Butler on Saturday and Sunday.
