Kent, Ohio -- Seniors R.D. Goodright, Micahel Perri, and Shayne
York, junior Lauren Blase, sophomores Jerrill Hall and Kayla
Witmer, and freshman Kiplingat Tisia all had personal-best days,
setting new school records in the indoor circuit on Saturday at the
Doug Raymond Invitational.
Blase, who competed in the 3,000-meter run, ran a time of
10:24.41, improving her personal-best time by 11 seconds. Blase
finished first in the event and now is ranked seventh all-time in
school history.
Witmer finished in second place in the 5,000-meter run with a
time of 18:15.45. Witmer improved her previous best time by six
seconds and is now ranked sixth in school history in the event.
Perri took second place in the 400 meter dash with a time of
48.69, which tied the school record with teammate Adam Kagarise for
second place.
York finished second in the long jump with a distance of 6.87m
and third in the triple-jump with a distance of 13.95m. With the
jumps York improves his previous bests and now holds the second
longest distances in school history for both jumps.
Both Tisia and Goodright set record marks in the mile. Tisia
finished second in the event with a time of 4:14.46, while
Goodright took fifth with his time of 4:15.99. With the times,
Tisia is now ranked third all-time and Goodright is sixth improving
his previous best by a second.
Tisia also finished in second place in the 3,000-meter run with
a time of 8:32.8, good for fourth on the school's all-time
list.
Hall broke his own school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a
time 8.29, good for fifth place at the event.
In addition the Guins also finished in the top 10 in 20 other
events, including five top 5 finishers.
On the men's side, junior Adam Kagarise took third place in the
400-meter dash with a time of 49:02. Junior Justin Dickman finished
in third place in the 5,000-meter run after a time of 15:28.75.
The 4x400m team of Kagarise, Perri, Goodright, and sophomore
Rick Lape took third place with a time of 3:20.67.
For the women senior Jen Grayson cleared 1.60m in the high jump
and finished in fifth. Junior Alisha Anthony took third in the long
jump with a distance of 5.45m.
The Guins return to action on Friday when they take head to Moon
Township, Pa. to take part in the Robert Morris Six Way.
