A three-sport performer during her collegiate career (1974 to 1978), Cindy Burazer is considered one of the frontrunners of women's athletics at Youngstown State University. She started her collegiate career before women's athletics was sanctioned by the AIAW (Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women), and watched women's sports upon graduation gradually be phased into the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) and its current status today.

A graduate of Lakeview High School (1974) where she played both softball and basketball in the very first year of competitive sports at the school, it was in field hockey at YSU where she was the rising star. She also left her mark for the Lady Penguins in both basketball and softball as well.

A physical Education major (her minor was health) where she earned her BS degree in 1978, she was a four year award winner in field hockey as the team posted a 23-13-6 overall mark during her four seasons of play. She earned Most Valuable honors in 1977. As a member of the basketball team for Head Coach Joyce Ramsey (she played three seasons from 1975-76 to 1977-78), she scored 81 total markers and the team posted a 29-13 mark.

One of the mainstays of the women's softball squad for three seasons (1976 to 1978), the team posted a near flawless 26-6 mark, while winning the first of three straight OAISW (Ohio Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women) state softball crowns in 1978.

During her senior year, she was listed in "Who's who among American Colleges and Universities" as one of the outstanding young students of America. She was also the Co-President of the Health and Physical Education Club in 1977 as well.

Upon graduation, she played for Cleveland Field Hockey (from 1978 to 1982) with her Great Lakes Field Hockey team qualifying for the national tournament in 1978. In 1980, her A.S.A (American Softball Association) softball squad won the state title and placed third in the national tournament where she voted to the All-Tournament First-Team at shortstop.

Since 1979, she has been a Physical Education teacher in the Lakeview School system, coaching basketball from 1979 to 1084 and coaching volleyball from 1984 to 1991.

She is married to Tom Dickey, and they are the proud parents of two children, Sarah, 20 months and Kelsey, born this past October 9th.
