As a student-athlete, she competed in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference at Guilford College from 2009 to 2013, under Head Coach Matthew Grosso, from 2009-2012 and Head Coach Sarah Lamphier, in 2013. Mettler was the starting goalie for three seasons. As a senior, she led her team in cage to the first undefeated conference record in Guilford College women's lacrosse history. That season, Guilford College had an overall season record of 15-2 and a conference record of 10-0. Mettler finished her lacrosse career in the 2013 Senior All-Star Tournament in Philadelphia, during the 2013 NCAA Championship weekend.

Mettler is also a current police officer for the Cleveland Heights Police Department.
