2023 (Senior): Played in all 29 matches and started 28 of them at middle blocker… Was one of five Penguins to appear in every match, and she ranked tied-for-third on the team with 113 sets played… Ranked second on the team with 99 blocks, and she tied for the team lead with 16 solo blocks… Additionally, she totaled 137 kills, 26 digs and four assists… Hit at a .313 clip, which led the team, and averaged 1.21 kills and 0.88 blocks per set… Ranked 11th in the Horizon League with 0.88 blocks per set… Improved offensively in conference play by averaging 1.31 kills on an impressive .373 attack percentage… Posted a career-best 10 kills at Robert Morris while hitting .500 on 18 attempts (10/13)… Tied her career high with seven blocks at Kent State (9/15) and at Wright State (10/17)… Had seven block assists against the Golden Flashes while posting two solo blocks and five block assists against the Raiders… Registered a .692 attack percentage, the fourth-best effort ever by a Penguin with 10-14 attempts, with nine kills on 13 attempts at Wright State.
2022 (Junior): Was the only player to start all 30 matches… Played in 115 sets at middle blocker and led the team with 85 total blocks in her first season with the program… Posted totals of 122 kills and 85 blocks for averages of 1.06 kills and 0.74 blocks per set… Hit .263 on 316 attempts… Averaged 0.92 kills and 0.75 blocks per set in conference play… Had four block solos and three block assists for a season-high seven blocks against Cleveland State (9/20)… The four block solos tied for the seventh-most by a Penguin in the rally-scoring era… Reached eight kills against Green Bay in the quarterfinals of the Horizon League Volleyball Championship (11/18)… High .538 in the match with the Phoenix, which is the best clip by a Penguin in the Horizon League Tournament.
Iowa Western CC: Was a prominent player for an Iowa Western Community College squad that won back-to-back NJCAA D1 national titles… She was an efficient attacker for the Reivers in her two seasons with a .375 attack percentage over 947 attempts and averages of 2.41 kills and 1.09 blocks per set… In the fall of 2021, Malave led the Reivers with 1.04 blocks per set and ranked third on the team with 2.61 kills per set… Finished her career by registering 13 kills and eight blocks in five sets in the national title match against New Mexico Military Institute.
Personal: Parents are David and Yaritza… Has three brothers (David, Dariel and Yael) and a sister (Yaimarie)… Earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration in May 2024… Is currently working toward her MBA with a specialization in human resources… Is a 2024-25 recipient of the Lester F.
