Brungard Named MVFC Offensive Player of the Week

Quarterback Beau Brungard has been named the MVFC Offensive Player of the Week after the Penguins claim a week three victory over Duquesne.
Youngstown State QB Beau Brungard had another memorable performance in a career of memorable performances. He led the Guins on eight touchdown drives in his eight series on the field. In the first half, he accounted for what is a possible FCS-record seven touchdowns (no official records available). In the game, he passed for a career and school-record six touchdown passes and ran for two more. He completed 20-of-23 passes for 290 yards and six touchdowns while rushing for 111 yards on 14 attempts and two touchdowns.
Brungard and the YSU offense accumulated 603 total offensive yards, 407 of which was through the air. The YSU defense held Duquense to only 244 total yards.
The MVFC Defensive Player of the Week was named to LB Tye Niekamp out of Illinois State. The MVFC Newcomer of the Week was Illinois State QB Gage Roy. The MVFC Special Teams Player of the Week is North Dakota RB/RS Charles Langama.
The Guins head back on the road to Brookings, S.D., to face the SDSU Jackrabbits next Saturday, September 19, for their first conference matchup. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Eastern time.
