For the first time in Youngstown State football history, the Penguins have cracked the top eight of the FCS Committee Rankings, landing at an impressive No. 3.
At 6-2 overall and 4-1 in Missouri Valley Football Conference play, the Guins continue to make their mark as they head into a well-earned bye week. Next up is a conference showdown with No. 6 North Dakota as YSU looks to keep the momentum rolling at home at Stambaugh Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 31.
The MVFC is well represented with four of the top 10 while Illinois State was among others receiving votes.
This is the first snapshot of where the teams rank through week seven. The second release, following week 10, will be Thursday, Nov. 5, during the College Football Live broadcast at 2 p.m. on ESPN2. The final playoff selections will be made on Sunday, Nov. 22.
