The Youngstown State softball team (13-11, 2-1 HL) visits St. Bonaventure in a mid-week, non-conference doubleheader Tuesday, March 24. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. in St. Bonaventure, N.Y. and both games will be aired on ESPN+.
Last Time Out
The Penguins won the season series over Detroit Mercy to open Horizon League play on March 20-21. Youngstown State dropped the opener, 9-6, but rallied on day two for a pair of victories, 8-0, 10-4. Freshman pitcher Kennedy Kimball earned her third and fourth victories of the season and notched her second career shutout in the game one win. In game one, Kimball allowed just one hit and faced one batter above the minimum. In game two, Kimball allowed four hits and struck out seven in 6.1 innings of relief. Junior Selah Moyer batted .500 with two home runs and nine RBIs and led the Penguins to a 2-1 record last week. She also posted a slugging percentage of 1.250 and an on-base percentage of .556 for an OPS of 1.806. Moyer had two three-run home runs in each of the first two games against Detroit Mercy and added a 2-for-3 performance with three RBIs in the series finale.

Youngstown State returns home to host Horizon League foe Northern Kentucky in a three-game league series, March 27-28. First pitch on Friday is set for 3 p.m. and Saturday's doubleheader is slated for a 1 p.m. start.

Campbell Reaches Career Win 700
Head Coach Brian Campbell, the winningest coach in program history with 417 wins, picked up the 700th victory of his coaching career in the Penguins' 4-3 win over Le Moyne on March 7 and now has 702 wins . Campbell is a three-time Horizon League Coach of the Year winning the award in 2012, 2021, and 2024. He led the Penguins to a 20-4 Horizon League record and tied the program single-season wins record with 36 in 2024. In 2021, Campbell led the Penguins to the first regular-season conference championship in program history with a 36-15 overall record and a 28-8 mark in league play. He has led the Penguins to six 30-win seasons and is the only coach in school history to win at least 30 games in consecutive seasons - 2021, 2022 and 2016, 2017.

She also posted a slugging percentage of 1.250 and an on-base percentage of .556 for an OPS of 1.806. Moyer had two three-run home runs each of the first two games against Detroit Mercy and added a 2-for-3 performance with three RBIs in the series finale. On the season, Moyer is batting .321with four doubles, five home runs and a team-high 24 runs batted in, which rank fifth in the Horizon League.
